Short and long term psychotherapy / counselling

Do you keep records?

Yes. I maintain records so that it is possible to provide a professional, effective and safe service. These records are kept separately from contact details and are identified to me by a coding system. In accordance with the BACP Ethical framework of Good practice in counselling and Psychotherapy I adhere to strict principles of anonymity in the records and do not include any information which could directly identify a client.

Do I have access to my records?

The Data Protection Act 1998 requires me to inform clients of the data that I hold about them, and to what extent it is accessible to them. If as a client you wished to see your records, we would explore this in a session. This would allow us to assess the advantages and disadvantages of seeing such records and come to a decision that would be in your best interests.
